MIDAS is looking for abstracts from students, early-career researchers and club analysts, in any of the four tracks. The room is small and the audience is expert, so we want work that is new and that the people in it can use. The programme committee reads every abstract.
Part of the programme is by invitation, and invitations only reach people we already know. This call is for the rest: a thesis that has not reached a journal, an analyst's project inside a club, a result from a lab we have not heard of. If it fits one of the four tracks and could be useful to the people in the room, we want to read it.
Iddo Diamant, Chair of the Steering Committee, MIDAS
Theses, work in progress, early results and applied projects that have not yet reached a journal. Published papers are not the focus; if yours is published, add the DOI and say what is new.
MIDAS is not a standard scientific conference. The audience is practitioners and industry stakeholders, so please pitch your work to them.
We value a clear question, a defensible method, and a result a club practitioner could act on.
All four tracks are open. We have particular interest in Computer Vision and AI Infrastructure.
This track covers work that turns cameras and sensors into performance data: skeleton tracking, pose estimation, multi-camera and broadcast systems, validation against what the sport needs, and honest accounts of what did not work.
This track covers how a club builds the data architecture under its AI: integrating tracking, event, physical and medical data, governance of that data, language models in analytics and coaching workflows, student work on pipelines and data quality, and evaluations of LLM tools.
This track covers the path from research to product to buyer, studied rather than pitched. Company pitches are not accepted.
This track asks whether the tools are trustworthy, fair and interoperable, and covers the EU AI Act, athlete data rights, standards, accountability, and law, policy and ethics theses.
Master's and PhD students, researchers and club analysts. Start-ups and commercial vendors are not eligible and product pitches are not accepted. One abstract per first author.
A talk is 10 minutes plus 5 for questions. A poster is displayed at the event; authors print and bring their own, and print details are sent on acceptance. The committee may suggest a different format. In person only, and at least one author attends.
Abstracts may be submitted in German or English. Talks and posters at MIDAS are presented in English.
The committee reads every abstract and judges in this order: relevance to the track, practical use, clarity, rigour, novelty. Student and early-career work is judged mainly on clarity and relevance.
Selected talk authors have a short video interview with one committee member before a slot is confirmed. Poster authors are not interviewed.
